Trading Power

Until recently, if timeshare owners wanted flexibility from their timeshare they had to exchange a week for a week on a like for like basis with RCI’s original exchange system, RCI Weeks.

This traditional system requires owners to deposit their weeks into a pool of accommodation called the SpaceBank. Each week is then allocated a Trading Power, which is based not only on the season, but also when the member deposits the week. Demand for that particular week, the apartment size, the quality of the resort and its location also have an impact on the Trading Power.

Many owners have found the RCI Weeks system increasingly restrictive and limiting, especially as the allocated Trading Power is only known by the computer system. And as the system only receives accommodation when owners deposit or bank their weeks, it’s very difficult to plan holidays effectively.

For this reason, RCI launched its new RCI Points exchange system.

With RCI Points, members still trade the use of their weeks for something else in the system. But this time they know the full value of weeks they are trading in because each has a Points value. And they can then clearly see the value of the weeks that they want to book because these are also valued in Points. These values have never known before.

Members of RCI Points automatically have their weeks transferred into the system every year. This means that they no longer have to remember to SpaceBank. They then receive their annual allocation of Points directly into their Points account and can then start to make bookings - knowing exactly how many Points they have available and the Points values of the weeks they want.

So no more requesting time and time again hoping that Trading Power will provide the holidays they want.

And remember, unlike traditional Weeks exchange, RCI Points members are not limited to seasons, apartment size or length of stay*. They’re not even limited to accommodation with a range of Points Partners to choose from.
